SMILES FROM MOTHER NATURE
Children below a certain age, that varies from culture to culture, generally albeit with potentially decreasing tendency, bless you with a smile that is, amongst other things:
- not a result of any prior calculation of the advantages it may bring
- not a result of a cold calculated analysis or some fertile imagination concerning your wealth, status, power and social prestige nor is it result of an assessment of how influential you are
- not a conformation to a certain declared corporate policy (or strategy)
- never a political expediency
- certainly not offered because one is actually interested in your partner (here the smile goes direct to the partner!)
- quite often oblivious of the colour of your skin or your passport, the official formal declarations and other archaic jargon in your passport, visa, certificates and affidavits and other documents, the type of the credit card you own or the balance in you bank account
- unaware of, if you are a native, a foreigner, a traveller, potential immigrant, wage-seeker, landowner or landless
- may even overlook let alone judge and respond in a specific way to your accent, be it local, distant or Olympian, your dress-code and other social-codes you may be carrying with you as non-biological accessories or be Lorenz-Pavlov-Freud-Socrates stamped on your biological hardware
- not a result of a do-good ethical norm or even remotely felt benign empathy or pity for you
- a manifestation of a genuine feeling, because one feels the Smile
That is why such a smile can be infectious, cathartic and healing, because in Primates, especially in case of apes and humans, everything that is genuinely felt can be superimposed with anything fake and not felt and regaining this lost feeling can bring wonders. Some children never really learn it and remain children for the rest of their lives and if they are additionally blessed with a Charisma they may increase the social bondage amongst groups and peoples, obviously without any grim have-to-do-it obsessive attitudes, that is they do things playfully, like the dolphin with an unforced nature's expressive smile.
